PUEBLO EL PAO, SANTA CRUZ, Trinidad and Tobago, August 20, 2022:  Trinidad and Tobago (TTO-1) team of Tysan Selvon and Britney Choon remained the lone unbeaten women's team at the end of the round-robin phase of the inaugural Caribbean Zonal Volleyball Association (CAZOVA) Under-23 Beach Volleyball Tour first leg.

Following their win over fellow local players Rejan Dubois/Meliscia Kalipersad (TTO-3) 2-0 (21-6, 21-6) for a 1-0 record on Friday’s opening day of competition,

Selvon and Choon crushed the Cayman Islands’ sister pairing of Anjia Delapenha and Brianna Delapenha 2-0 (21-9, 21-9) in a clash of unbeaten teams to end with a  perfect 2-0 record in Pool and will face Bermudans Amber Simons and Kaylee Trott in Sunday’s second semifinal from 10 am.

In the other semifinal, the Delapenha sisters will play Jamaicans Jade Parchment and Andrea Ashmon of Jamaica.

This after Parchment and Ashmon outplayed the TTO-2 team of L’fe Roberts and Meeka Johnson 2-0 (21-6, 21-8) while TT0-2 stunned Simons and Trott 21-14, 9-21, 15-12 to leave all three teams in Pool B with 1-1 records.

However, when the dust was cleared Parchment and Ashmon topped the table based on better points won to points lost ratio of 1.4355 to Bermuda’s (1.0109), and TTO-2’s 0.6854.

On Sunday, TTO-2 will meet TTO-3 duo Rejan Dubois/Meliscia Kalipersad in the battle for the fifth spot from 1 pm on Court Two.

The second leg of the CAZOVA Tour will also serve off at the same venue in Santa Cruz from August 26-28 and will see teams from Suriname, Barbados, and Turks and Caicos.

Following the two legs in T&T, NORCECA is expected to host the Under-23 event in the Cayman Islands at a date to be confirmed while CAZOVA will play host to remaining stops in  Aruba, Jamaica, and Bonaire in December.
