Gisette L.H. Emer was born on the 16^th of March 1975 in Kralendijk, Bonaire.

She has been involved since an early age of 11 in sports as a sportswoman and volunteered in different community services. She played volleybal (outside hitter), softball (Left Field) and Table-tennis. At the age of 11 volleyball was introduced to her by her mother who formed one of the first junior teams back then in the neighborhood. Volleyball was played on asphalt outdoor with lots of passion and dedication. By the age of 14 she began using her organizing skills together with some friends to plan and execute under guidance of the school national matches against other schools in Aruba. Volleybal was a way of life, a part of her childhood till she left for holland in 1995.

April 2012 she was asked by the late Jorge Nicolaas to come back to Bonaire and help with the development and growth of volleyball on Bonaire. Her answer at that moment was negative due to work and life in Holland. Regretfully Jorge Nicolaas passed away that same year on the 12th of July 2012.

Gisette L.H. Emer returned to Bonaire in 2013 and the first 2 years focused on settling on the island. In 2015 she began involving herself a bit in volleyball through her daughter who started to play for the youth volleyball of the primary school and then played for the selection of Bonaire in the 5th CAZOVA Youth Caribbean Championship in Curacao. In 2017 she decided to make her contribution as was requested of her from the late Jorge Nicolaas in 2012 and help to lift volleyball back on Bonaire. At that time there was a new board elected and she was elected in this new board and functioned as General Secretary. Nowadays she is functioning as the Vice President of BOVOBO.
