Kennedy McGowan

1st Vice President

 

Kennedy McGowan was instrumental in revitalizing the sport of volleyball in the Cayman Islands. Starting in 1990, he served in numerous positions on the Cayman Islands Volleyball Federation (CIVF), Board of Administration and in 2000 retired as the President. He returned to the sport in 2009 to assist the local organizing committee with hosting of the first NORCECA Continental Beach Volleyball (Cayman) tournament. The following year he was asked to rejoin the CIVF Board, elected Vice President and served in that role for four years. In 2014 he was again elected CIVF President. Kennedy has a passion for making volleyball a focus sport in the Cayman Islands. Occasionally, he might be seen playing in the Sunday Beach Volleyball League or refereeing a recreational or national league game. In 2019, Kennedy received his certificate as member of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) – Hazzard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI). In the event of a national disaster, he has the expertise to assist in community search & rescue and evacuation.
