Jacqueline Cowan

 

General Secretary

 

With a BA in Psychology and a Diploma in Advanced Sports Management, Jackie has over 20 years in Sports Administration, and has been involved in various sports with major accomplishments below:

 

  • General Secretary of the Jamaica Volleyball Association since 2015
  • Prior to becoming JaVA’s General Secretary, was Tournament Director of the successful staging of the 1st  and  2nd           Round of the Women’s Beach Volleyball Olympic Qualifiers in May 2015 and January 2016.
  • Manager for National Women’s Volleyball Team, that through a partnership between the Jamaican and Chinese    Governments, participated in a training and development programme in Kunming, China from July to September     2018 and June 30 to September 29, 2019.
  • Chief Liaison Officer in the Caribbean Football Union U17 Girls Tournament in 2013, and was also Manager of  the      Jamaican Team.
  • The first female to hold the post of Vice-President of Kingston and St. Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) from     2008-2014
  • Member of the Jamaica Football Federation’s Board of Directors – 2008-2014
  • Member of the Finance Committee – Jamaica Football Federation -2012-2016
  • Member of the Women’s Committee – Jamaica Football Federation -2008-2018
  • Current Member of Jamaica Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee
  • Current member of the Woman’s Commission of the Jamaica Olympic Association
  • Represented Jamaica at the “Leadership Forum for Women in Sports in the Americas” in Lima, Peru
  • Chef de Mission for the ParaAthletic World Championship in London, England – 2017

 

Professional Experience

 

With 28 years of experience, Mrs. Cowan held various positions. in the banking sector.  Her last position was that of Assistant General Manager of Retail Banking.

Main duties included: Business Development, preparing budgets and ensuring the attainment of financial targets.

Five years was also spent as the Senior Manager for Human Resources, Training and Development
